The first six weeks of my senior year have been a mix of excitement and adapting. A big change has been the new YONDR pouches, which keeps our phones locked up during the school day. At first, we were all agape, shocked by the idea of not being able to access our phones all day. However, I’ve started to develop an affinity for the calmness it brings to class. With zero distractions, it's easier to focus, and I’ve noticed how much more adroit I’ve been at completing assignments. Teachers and staff think that it’s improved the aesthetic of our school environment, making it feel more focused and organized.

Even with the positives, not everyone feels the same. There’s been a bit of animosity toward the YONDR pouches, especially from students who use their phones all day. Some say it’s an amoral approach to control, taking away personal freedom. But I’ve seen acts of altruism rise between my classmates, with people being more engaged and supportive when someone needs help, rather than everybody being glued to their screens. The first few weeks have definitely been an adjustment, but overall, I think it’s brought some unexpected benefits.
