How important is it for you to retain your cultural foods as you move forward in life? Explain the importance and which foods you cannot live without.

  Prompt Response:   Keeping cultural foods is important to me because they remind me of my roots and family traditions. These foods help me feel connected to where I come from. I can’t live without foods like tacos, tamales, and pozole. They taste great and bring back memories of family meals and celebrations, which make them a big part of my culture. Summary: In class, we made a digital poster about different foods and events. We focused on why each food is important and how it connects to traditions and celebrations. It was a fun way to learn about the meaning of food. Reflection: My day was good. I liked working on the poster because it made me think about the foods I enjoy and why they matter. I felt productive in class and had fun with the project. After, I was able to relax and finish some homework, which made the rest of the day go well.

vHow would you feel if your privacy was invaded online or on your phone? Do you think privacy is a basic civil liberty?

  Prompt Response:   If my privacy was invaded online or on my phone, I’d feel upset and uncomfortable. It’s not okay for people to look at your personal information without your permission. I believe privacy is a basic right because everyone should be able to control what they share and with whom. When privacy is violated, it can cause harm, like identity theft or being taken advantage of. It’s important to protect this right. Summary:  In class today, we read a poem for Black History Month. The poem focused on important themes about African American history and culture. After reading, we had a discussion where everyone shared their thoughts. We talked about the meaning of the poem and how it connects to today's world. It was a good conversation that helped me understand the importance of Black History Month. Reflection:  My day was good. I got through all my classes without any issues but my last period  I  always end up sleeping. The Black History Month ...

Prompt Response:  Over winter break, I mostly just played soccer with my friends. We had some pretty intense games, and I tried not to impair my skills by being lazy. When I wasn’t playing, I was stuck at work, where my coworkers would always importune me to take their shifts, which was kinda annoying. On my days off, I went to the mall with my family, and my little sibling’s idolatry of sneakers made us stay there forever. When I was finally home, I just wanted to chill, but my imperious little cousin kept bugging me to play video games. Overall, break was kinda busy, but at least it wasn’t boring. Summary: Today in class we worked on our comic strips. I made the comic strip on my own, using the vocabulary words we needed. I made sure each word was used correctly in the story, making it fun and educational. Reflection: My day was good. Everything went smoothly, and I was able to get things done without any major issues. It felt productive, and I had a positive mood throughout...

Prompt: Describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about.

  Prompt Response:   My perfect day with my family would start with a big homemade breakfast. We would go to the park, play soccer, and have fun together. Later, we’d cook a nice dinner and share stories at the table. Ending the day with a movie and laughs would make it perfect. Summary: Today in class, we didn't really do much. We finished our one pager for the poem Still I Rise. I was able to color and finish it just on time. The rest of the class period di just took a nap.  Reflection:  Overall today was better than yesterday. It was honestly a very chill day and didn't reallyy have much to do in all my classes. 

Prompt: Write about a time when you faced a challenge, an obstacle, or a moment where you had to push yourself beyond what you thought was possible.

  Prompt Response:   I had to lead my JROTC unit through a big inspection. It was stressful, but I worked hard to prepare my team. In the end, we passed with an outstanding rating, and I learned that I can handle tough challenges. Summary: Today in  class we read the poem Still I Rise by Maya Angelou. It was a very impactful and meaningful poem. We had to create a one pager about the poem and I pretty much finished it in class. I overall loved the poem and the how we talked about it together as a class.  Reflection:  Overall my day was good. It was raining and freezing outside which was the only downside but besides that I think it was pretty good. I didn't have much homework and I had soccer practice after school. We played in the rain which was freezing and wet. We have a game tomorrow against Padeia which im excited for and prepared for. 

Prompt: Write about a time when you had to rely on your mother (or any other prominent female in your life) during your time of need.

Prompt Response:  One time, I was really sick and couldn't take care of myself. My mom made sure I had medicine, food, and rest. She stayed by my side until I felt better.  Summary: Today in class we reviewed and talked about a poem with the entire class. We annotated and shared thoughts and filled out questions on our papers. I think the poem was very powerful and had a deep meaning. Reflection:  Today was a tiring day. School was good at the beginning and towards the end I got pretty tired. I had a soccer game today. Lakeside v. Pace. We tied 0-0 but lost in penalties which really sucked. It honestly didn't feel like a lost because we didn't allow any balls to go into our goal which meant we did a good job defensively. They're were definitely a rough and physical team but we managed to hold them down. 

Prompt: What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

  Prompt Response:   In high school, I learned time management, responsibility, and how to work with others. I also learned how to budget money and stay organized. These skills will help me live on my own. The most important skills for success after high school are managing money, staying responsible, and making good decisions. Summary: Today in class we had a sub and we completed a NEWSELA assignment about the bill of rights. The entire article was really interesting and I completed the 2 writing assignments and received a 3/4 on my quiz.  Reflection:  Today went by pretty quick. Nothing much happened and I felt good. I got some good sleep the night before so I wasn't tired like other days. I had soccer practice and felt like I performed well. I got home and organized my room and helped around the house. 

Prompt: It's Super Bowl weekend! Some people watch the Super Bowl for football, others for the commercials, and some just for the halftime show. What’s your favorite part of big events like this, and why?

  Prompt Response:  I personally watch everything. From Ads to Halftime shows to just the game. Some ads are really funny and hilarious to watch. I also enjoy watching football in general, it gets very intense and exciting. Summary: Today in class we continued to talk about writing an essay and the steps needed to make a good essay. We had to choose or prompt and begin brainstorming. Mr.Rease ended up helping us by going over an example cluster chart and we took notes of what he was saying. Reflection:  Overall, I had a good day. It’s friday so some teachers assigned tests and other didn’t assign homework. I went to work afterschool and it was also good. nothing much happened today it was pretty calm.

Prompt: What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

  Prompt Response:   Brainstorming is hard because I never know what to write. My mind just goes blank. I’ll try to fix this by jotting down random ideas and hoping something makes sense. Summary: Today in class we did a Literary Analysis prompt practice together as a class and took notes on how to write a body paragraph for an essay. Mr. Rease made it look easy but it was a bit difficult for me. Reflection: Today was a good day, I went to the dentist in the morning to get fillings for my cavities which i’ve never done before. It was a very painful procedure and a very long one. I got to school and my entire upper lip was numb and swollen. After it went away i was able to eat and talk normally. School was okay and afterwards i had soccer practice which was also good. 

Prompt: If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

  Prompt Response:   If I wrote a poem about my life right now, it would be about working hard and trying to figure things out. I’m busy with school, my job, and other stuff, and sometimes it feels like a lot. But I keep going because I have big goals and want to do well. I’d also talk about my friends, family, and the little moments that make life fun. Even when things get stressful, I know it’s all part of the journey. Summary: Today in class we learned how to write a powerful thesis statement. We took notes in class and I learned a few things. Some I already knew like, a  strong thesis statement is one sentence that says the main point of an essay. It should be clear, have an opinion, and give a small preview of what the essay will talk about. A good thesis helps keep the writing on track and makes it easier for the reader to understand. Reflection:  Today was a pretty good day. School wasn't bad and I had varsity practice again today. We didn'...

Prompt: Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

  Prompt Response:   During a performance with my Mexican dance group, I had to say a verse before we started. I was scared I’d mess up or forget the words, but I took deep breaths and just went for it. Once I started talking, I felt better and got through it fine. If you're nervous about speaking in front of people, just practice a lot, take deep breaths, and remember no one wants you to fail. Summary: Today in class we took notes about formal and informal language.  Formal language is more professional and proper, like what you’d use in essays or when talking to teachers. Informal language is more casual, like how you talk to friends or text people. Knowing when to use each one is important because it helps you sound right for different situations. Reflection:  Today was my first varsity practice, I felt like I did okay and need some improvements. I was getting along with a few of the players and honestly had fun. It was tiring but a good experience.
